The results of the 6th edition of the Pearls of the Polish Economy competition were announced at a gala event at the Royal Castle in Warsaw on November 21, 2008. The ranking is co-organized by Polish Market Economic Magazine and the Institute of Economics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (INE PAN). Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Economy Waldemar Pawlak and President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Professor Michał Kleiber were honorary patrons of the event.

Professor Jan Lubiński, M.D. – a prominent oncologist, founder and director of the Genetics and Pathological Morphology Department at the Pomeranian Medical Academy in Szczecin. He opened Poland’s first Genetic Oncology Consultancy Clinic in 1992 where he discovered that congenital genetic predispositions are crucial in cancer patients.
