Europe’s first modern art museum attached to a shopping mall has been opened in the Polish city of Lodz. Known as ms2, this state-of-the-art extension of the city’s established modern art museum is part of the Manufaktura shopping complex, housed in a revitalized historic 19th century textile factory founded by the Poznański family of industrialists.

Polish archeologists have been working in Sudan for decades. A lot of credit goes to the archaeological mission initiated by Prof. Kazimierz Michałowski at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s when work on preserving historical sites in Nubia began.

Łukasz Kuropaczewski – Polish Music – Polish Radio SA
The album contains pieces by émigré Polish composer Aleksander Tansman originally written for the guitar (‘Suite in Modo Polonico’, ‘Cavatina’) and ‘Folk Songs’ written for piano by Witold Lutosławski arranged by Jose de Aspiazu. Kuropaczewski decided to record the album with Polish music on the suggestion of his Maestro – Manuel Barrueco. The recorded material is described as sublime. ‘Tansman’s compositions are among the most often performed pieces by Polish composers. I consider him an excellent artist who is widely acknowledged by world guitarists.’ Kuropaczewski told ‘Polish Market’.

The award ceremony of the 1st edition of the ‘Polish Culture Benefactors’ competition was held at the Royal Castle in Warsaw on November 26. The competition is a joint initiative of the Royal Castle and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

The magic of women – the soul, mystery and melancholy depicted also in ‘The Double Life of Veronica”, a cult movie directed by distinguished Polish director Krzysztof Kieślowski, is featured in a multimedia exhibition by Tomek Sikora and Renata Plaga on display from November 25 at the Fabryka Trzciny gallery in Warsaw.

Herbie Hancock – the phenomenal jazz pianist and composer known for his collaboration with Miles Davis is to give three concert in Poland. The "Herbie Hancock Sextet" concerts are scheduled in Katowice on Nov 30, Warsaw on Dec 1 and Poznań on Dec 2 as part of the Year of Climate and Environment Poznań 2008 programme. >>
