Thrifty Europeans go for Polish food products

Forecasts for the Euro zone, Poland’s chief trade partner accounting for over 50% of our exports and more than 47% of imports, sound worse from week to week. This will have an effect on trade, wrote the web portal pb.pl quoting Urszula Kryńska from Bank Millennium.

The year 2008 is over. One feels tempted to add, fortunately. Hopefully, nothing in the near future will match last year’s events. The developments in the USA and on many other stock exchanges were comparable to what transpired in 1930 (when the DJIA fell by a third) and 1931 (when it fell by half). In 2008, the index lost up to 50 percent during the year. It was also the worst year in the 17-year history of the WSE.

Zawiercie to welcome first investor

Aluron has been granted a permission to start business activities in the Katowice Special Economic Zone. Its new investment project is to be located on an area recently included in the zone. In Zawiercie Aluron is to construct a factory which is to produce metal elements for construction woodwork and metal structures. The investment is estimated to cost 30.5 million PLN and 60 workers are expected to find employment in the plant.

Norwegian subsidies for 300 Polish projects

The Polish Ministry of Regional Development informs that Norway has accepted some 300 Polish projects relating to environment protection, health care, education and the Schengen zone to the tune of EUR 340 million.
