The Gregorianum Boys’ and Men’s Choir and the Gregorianum Men’s Ensemble will give a concert of Christmas carols in the Great Hall of the Royal Castle in Warsaw on 22 December at 6 p.m.The repertoire will be composed of sacred songs, starting with the Gregorian chants through to pieces by contemporary composers. The choir performs mainly in churches and concert halls around Warsaw. The group took part in many youth choir festivals and carol and pastorale competitions, collecting numerous awards and honorary distinctions. It performed, among others, during the “Europa Cantat – Junior II” Festival in Wolfenbuttel (1999), “Europa Cantat” Festival in Ghent – as part of their tour of Belgium (2001), 32nd International Congress “Pueri Cantores” in Cologne (2004). Together with the Chamber Choir of the Warsaw University “Collegium Musicum” and the Orchestra of the G. Bacewicz Musical School conducted by Andrzej Borzym, the Gregorianum choir took part in Szymon Kuran’s Requiem concerts (2006).

The Gregorianum men’s ensemble is composed of the current and former members of the boys’ and men’s choir of the same name and singers from the “Pośrodku Żywota” ensemble from Podkowa Leśna. The repertoire consists mainly of Mediaeval and Renaissance music.
Last year the ensemble won the second place in the secular choir category at the 1st Polish Carol and Pastorale Festival in Chełmnia, it was granted an honorary mention at the 7th International Choir Meetings with Marian Songs “Ad Gloriam Dei” in Pińczów, it performed during the 7th Kujawy Choir Meetings in Włocławek, and was granted the second award at the 9th Choir Festival Cantio Lodziensis in Łódź. The choir opened the carol season on the stage of the Great Theatre in Warsaw, performing at the 7th European Choir Meetings. This year the choir took part in the premiere performance of “The last daddy” in the Warsaw Lalka theatre and took part in the ancient music workshops in
Trzcińsk, where under the guidance of prof. Cezary Szyfman the group enriched its vocal experience. The choir performed also during the 15th International Meetings with Early Music in Świe-
radów-Zdrój.

We also invite you to the concerts of the next year’s cycle “Magic Voices” to take place on the following dates: 27 January, 2 March, 11 May, 22 June, and 21 September.
