Poles among Europe’s under-40 best architects

Polish architects Robert Konieczny and Tomasz Konior resident in Katowice in the south have been listed among Europe’s forty best architects aged under 40 in the highly prestigious “Europe 40 Under 40” annual awards program run by the European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies and the Museum of Architecture and Design at the Chicago Athenaeum.

The program is aimed at bringing wider recognition to the 40 most promising architects working in the European Union and other countries on this Continent as well as fostering and encouraging new creative thinking. The list is compiled by a panel of distinguished architectural practitioners, developers, journalists, educators, and critics.

• The release of retail sales data for July and a decision on interest rates will be the most important developments on the financial market this week. We expect that retail sales rose in July by 15.1% y/y while the market consensus is 14%. We also believe that interest rates will remain unchanged in August but will be raised later in the year. Although the rate of economic growth slowed, which is an argument for those who oppose any further tightening of the monetary policy, a majority of the Monetary Policy Council members may decide to raise interest rates once again this year because inflation is still high, running much above the target, and wages grow faster than labour productivity.
