Polish Minister of Infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk has announced that rapid commuter rail links will be built in Poland. He told Polish Radio Three about the so called Y Project – the first rapid rail line which is going to connect Poland’s biggest cities: Warsaw, Łódź and Poznań. In his opinion the implementation of the project will take over 10 years.

- Building the country’s infrastructure we are restoring the meaning of public-private partnership – Minister of Infrastructure, Cezary Grabarczyk told Polish Radio Three.
Grabarczyk said that PLN 20 billion is secured for investments in this year’s budget. Over the next 5 years PLN 121 billion is to be allocated for this purpose. “These are substantial funds but not sufficient for all projects. Therefore we will execute some of them within the framework of public-private partnership” – he said. The A2motorway – to link the German border with the town of Nowy Tomyśl on its way from Berlin to Warsaw – can serve as an example. A deal with the Autostrada Wielkopolska company has been made.
According to Grabarczyk a network linking sports stadiums and facilitating transport to and from all neighbouring countries should be ready by 2012.
