Warsaw Ghetto Uprising marked

The 65th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is being marked with a number of events including a concert of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta at the Grand Theatre National Opera featuring excerpts from Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3 in E flat and 5th Symphony in C minor.

The ceremonies include the awarding of the title of the Honorary Citizen of Warsaw on Symch Ratajzer-Rotem, one of the last living insurgents of the Warsaw Jewish Ghetto Rising in 1943. The ceremonies are complete with another, this time open-air concert by the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra in front of the Monument to the Heroes of the Ghetto.
