Poland steps up road construction programme
2008-05-15
Polish minister of infrastructure Cezary Grabarczyk has outlined ways of accelerating road and motorway construction. According to him, amendments to legislation on public orders, roads and environment protection laws can be expected to speed up the road construction programme, which critics say lags far behind expectations, especially on the eve of the UEFA Euro 2012 championship.
REKLAMA
The Minister remains positive that the road construction programme will be completed by EURO 2012. – We will be ready before the ball starts rolling – he is quoted as saying by TVN24. The planned amendment to the law on public procurement, currently revised by parliament, provides for streamlining the investment process and “eliminating legal absurdities”. Grabarczyk also spoke on another proposed piece of legislation to shorten the decision-making process regarding road construction. The “permit for executing road investments” will replace two existing documents: location and construction permits. According to Grabarczyk this alone may speed up the process by a year.
