
The Pat Metheny Trio will perform on July 3. July 5 sees “Duets”, by Bobby McFerrin with the acknowledged Polish Jazz singer Anna Maria Jopek and pianist Leszek Możdżer. The festival’s highlight will be a show by the reactivated legendary fusion group - Return to Forever (on July 4). Apart from the band’s leader, its former co-founders will perform: bass player Stanley Clark, guitarist Al Di Meola and drummer Lenny White. The festival will also host other world jazz stars including: Branford Marsalis Quartet and Charlie Haden Quartet West (July 6), Steve Coleman&Five Elements (July 22). All concerts will take place at the Sala Kongresowa in the Palace of Science and Culture in the center of Warsaw. Other events planned for the Warsaw Summer Jazz Days 2008 will include Romanian, Slovak, Greek and Austrian Days as well as a series of presentations of Polish jazz. These events will take place, in the Królikarnia Park, Bemowo Amphitheatre and Witold Lutosławki Concert Studio. Entry is free. The 17th edition of WSJD will finish on July 23. The Warsaw Summer Jazz Days is an original project of Mariusz Adamiak. The festival has retained its pioneer, avant-garde character while becoming a major jazz event presenting world jazz in Poland.
