Western Union money transfer available through Bank Pekao SA agencies.
Bank Pekao SA and Western Union (NYSE: WU) have held the first joint conference at Warsaw Hyatt Hotel. On March 31, 2008 both companies signed an agreement to make the Western Union Money Transfer service available via the Bank Pekao network across Poland. The service has been already launched and is available for outbound and inbound transfers in nearly 900 branches.

At the moment the service is available in USD and PLN but there are talks about making it available in two more currencies: the pound sterling and euro. The procedure of making a transfer takes only five minutes and is accessible to anyone interested without the necessity to start a bank account at Pekao SA. Those wishing to transfer money within Poland will have to pay from PLN 15 up and from PLN 23 for a transfer abroad. The money can be sent from Poland around the world via a Western Union network of more than 335,000 agent locations in more than 200 countries and territories.
According to the estimations of the National Bank of Poland the remittance market in Poland is valued at approximately USD 6 371 billion for inbound and approximately USD 1 235 billon for outbound transactions.
In their brief speeches in Warsaw the representatives of Western Union: Christina A. Gold, President and Chief Executive Officer of Western Union since September 2006, ranked 56 on The Forbes 100 Most Powerful Women 2007 list and Hikmet Ersek is our Executive Vice President and Managing Director, Europe/Middle East/Africa/South Asia and representatives of Bank Pekao SA: Jan Krzysztof Bielecki President of the Management Board, CEO, Paolo Iannone ,Vice President of the Management Board and Wojciech Pantkowski, Managing Director expressed their enthusiasm about the cooperation.

Bank Pekao SA is the largest commercial bank in Central and Eastern Europe in terms of market capitalisation, and the largest bank in Poland with 5 million individual and corporate customers. The Bank is also a member of the UniCredit Group.
